On 15 February 2016, a roundtable was held in Bucharest, under the patronage of the National Environmental Guard, which aimed at presenting and analysing the methodologies for the establishment of ecological corridors and at distributing the brochure “Protected areas in Romania”, elaborated within the project Development of the methodology for establishing ecological corridors and training the administrators of the protected areas for their better management, financed under the RO02 – Biodiversity and ecosystem services, supported by the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area (EEA) 2009-2014. Lecturer Răzvan Bătinaş, PhD, the manager of SIENPHCTS project, participated as guest on behalf of the project implementation team. The event took place at the restaurant “Il Re del Mare”, starting at 10 a.m. Among the participants were the representatives of various specialized institutions, namely the Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests, the National Environmental Guard, and partners in similar national projects financed under the RO-02 programme. The discussions were led by Mrs. Cornelia Ghiţă – project manager, followed by representatives from the following institutions: Computas AS, UNESCO Pro Natura Ecological Club and Mrs Alina Frim. The topics discussed were related to the presentation of the software application and the platform for the management and monitoring of protected areas, of ecological corridors, respectively, and the presentation of the methodologies for establishing ecological corridors for large mammals, migratory birds and migratory fish.
