President of the Heidenroslein Association, I have worked in civil society for 25 years, both in Romania and in Europe. By means of the Heidenroslein Association, hundreds of projects have been implemented, both nationally and internationally. With more than 50 publications, the certification of work was validated by a series of awards for environmental protection and social involvement. Since 1990, we have conducted pioneering work on the implementation of voluntary activities, namely the implementation of environmental education in 282 educational units. In addition, in partnership with various universities, we have conducted micro research projects, awarded gold, silver, and bronze medals.

Graduate of the University of Bucharest, Faculty of Biology, specialized in Biology (1979-1983), I obtained the PhD degree in 2003 with a work focused on Improving Bioleaching (Microbial) Indices for Metals from Ores with High Content of Primary Sulphides. Since 2012, I have been working as a lecturer at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, the North University Centre of Baia Mare (General Microbiology, Environmental Microbiology, Microbiology of Food Products, Microbiological Control of Food Products, Medical Microbiology, Animal Biology). Previously, I worked as senior researcher at the Institute for Research and Mining Design S.A., Laboratory of Unconventional Technologies, in the Biotechnology and Environmental Protection Research teams. Among my areas of interest, there are Microbial Biotechnologies (the recovery of copper from low-grade ores by bioleaching in mining waste dumps and underground and the extraction from solutions by cementation on iron scrap or by using liquid organic extractants; recovery of non-ferrous metals by bioleaching from mining wastes; bacterial treatment of refractory gold-bearing pyrites; industrial application of biotechnologies for copper recovery from low-grade ores), Environmental Protection (reducing acid mine drainage phenomena through passive methods; ecological reconstruction of acid soil, affected by the extractive mining industry – mining waste dumps and tailings ponds; study on the spontaneous installation of vegetation on mining waste dumps and on tailings ponds; study of plants adapted for the revegetation of acid substrata from the non-ferrous mining waste deposits; study of the evolution of installation of iron and sulphur oxidizing bacteria in mining wastes resulted from non-ferrous mining industry; environmental impact and risk assessment of acid rock drainage processes.
